Zachary Dennis Gys passed away on July 19, 2013 from an accidental morphine overdose at the age of 21. He struggled with substance abuse for many years. However, he was so much more than that. He was our son, our brother, our nephew, our grandchild, our cousin, and our friend. Zack had an amazing sense of humor and at the worst of times he could still make you laugh. We remember him with joy in our hearts. We remember him for the athlete he was, for the kindness in his soul, and for his unwavering love for his family. We remember Zachary not as an addict, for that was only one small part of his being, but as a person, who we were lucky enough to have 21 years with.
About Zack's Team Foundation & Scholarship Fund
Many people fail to realize that substance abuse is a disease. It takes over one's mind and body. Substance abuse stifles the growth of an individual both physically and mentally. It becomes a lifelong battle and it is almost impossible to win the battle alone. Zack's Team uses 100% of its proceeds to send individuals to treatment. We have partnered with The Plymouth House which is a recovery center focused on the Twelve Steps. We are committed to helping individuals overcome the disease of addiction. We are also committed to spreading awareness and reversing the stigma that is often associated with those that suffer from this debilitating disease. However, we cannot accomplish our goals alone. We rely heavily on you for support whether it be mentally or financially. We hope you will continue to support us. We are grateful to you for without you none of this would be possible.
